Experience Guadalupe River State Park as an outdoor classroom in this program for school-age kids!
Guadalupe River State Park’s homeschool program is a set of outdoor classes for homeschool kiddos grades K-5. Classes are usually held on the second full week of the month (September through May), and you can choose between Wednesday at 10am, Thursday at 10am or Friday at 10am. Please note that classes will not be held in January 2024 due to scheduling conflicts. We will cover a different topic every month, so don’t miss out!
May’s topic is benthic macroinvertebrate sampling (river bugs). Students will explore the river and learn to identify the different species that call the Guadalupe River home. We will be using nets in the river, so be prepared to get wet!
Registration: Program is limited to 25 students. Register here.
Please register only if you are sure your child can attend. If your plans change, email jessica.bergner@tpwd.texas.gov to cancel so that another child can have that spot.
Prepare: Dress for the weather and bring water.
Meet: Meet at the amphitheater behind the Discovery Center.
Fees: None. Entry fees will be waived under an educational waiver for the student and their parent or guardian.
If ADA assistance is required, please inform park headquarters (830) 438-2656 ahead of time.
**Park programs are subject to change/cancellation in the event of inclement weather**
