Volunteer opportunities

Guadalupe River State Park and Honey Creek State Natural Area have a variety of opportunities for volunteers with diverse interests. Being a State Park positioned so closely to the San Antonio area means we have high numbers of visitors on weekends and holidays. This provides us the opportunity to introduce people who may have little familiarity with the outdoors in its more pristine state to the natural wonders and beauty of the Park and Natural Area.   We are also able to introduce visitors to the ideals of land stewardship and the need to protect and maintain our natural resources, including the native flora, fauna, and physical environment.

Below are some of the many ways you can get involved and support our work:

MAINTENANCE & RESOURCE
  • Trail maintenance: clearing brush, repairing erosion, and maintaining signage along our scenic trails.
  • Picnic and campsite upkeep: cleaning picnic areas, grills, and fire pits, and assisting with minor repairs.
  • Litter cleanup: removing litter from the riverbanks, trails, and day-use areas to protect wildlife and enhance visitor experiences.
  • Facilities support: assisting with painting, minor carpentry, or other light repairs to park facilities.
  • Landscaping: planting native vegetation and removing invasive species.
  • Service projects
