SUMMARY:9:30 am Bauer Unit Hike - Curry Creek Overlook Trail - CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
DESCRIPTION:Join us on this beautiful trail! \nJoin us at the Bauer Unit and hike the beautiful Curry Creek Overlook Trail! This trail winds through hardwood forests and large rocks riddled with fossils\, and gives a beautiful view of Curry Creek far below. Along the way you’ll find out about the nature and history of this area. \nNo registration necessary — just show up! \nWho: The whole family! All ages welcome. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome. \nBring: Wear good walking shoes\, dress for the weather\, and bring plenty of drinking water. \nKnow before you go: This moderate to challenging hike is about 3.5 miles round-trip. Trail is mostly level\, with some rocky areas\, small elevation changes\, and narrow pathways. The Bauer Unit is primitive in nature: there is no running water\, no restrooms\, and no trash cans. Plan ahead and be prepared! \nMeet: at the Bauer Unit parking lot at 9:30 am sharp! Please note that it takes approximately 20 minutes to drive from the Main Park Headquarters to the Bauer Unit. \nCost:  Park programs are free with a Texas State Parks pass or park entrance fee – $7 per person ages 13 and up\, kids 12 and under are always free! \nAsk us! We want our programs to be a fun outdoor experience for all. If there’s anything we can do to help\, please ask\, either via email or phone\, or at the time of the program. \nYou do not need to stop by the Main Park Headquarters first — you can use the self-pay station at the Bauer Unit parking lot. \nDirections to the Bauer Unit from the Park Headquarters (do NOT use your GPS\, or it will route you to the main park entrance! ): \nTurn right onto Highway 46 from Park Road 31. Go 3 miles and turn right on FM 3351. Go approx. 3.5 miles and turn right on Edge Falls Road. Continue for 2.4 miles and turn right on Acker Road. Go 2.2 miles to entrance.
