DESCRIPTION:Experience the natural and cultural history of Honey Creek! \nJoin us for a guided walk to the beautiful Honey Creek to learn about the area’s natural and cultural history. The Friends of Guadalupe River State Park/Honey Creek State Natural Area sponsor this event. \nThe trail is about 2 miles long and moderate in difficulty — much of it is flat\, but there are some rocky areas\, slopes\, and two steep but short hills. \nAll ages welcome! No dogs\, please\, except for service dogs.  \nThe Sunday Honey Creek Hike is held on the 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd Sunday of each month at 9 am. Please check our online calendar for exact dates and any cancellations.  \nRegistration is required for this event.  \nRegistration for each hike will open approximately three weeks in advance. If the hike you wish to go on is full\, please recheck the link later\, as all cancellations go back into the system\, and spots often open up the week of the hike.  \nRegistration is required for this event. DESCRIPTION:How many birds can you spot from a 50-foot circle? \nHow many birds can YOU spot from within a 50-foot circle? Join us and find out! \nWe will be hanging out at the Woodland Blind all morning\, and keeping a running tally of all the different types of birds we see (or hear)! \nVolunteers and staff will be on hand\, ready to share their love of birding\, and we’ll have extra sets of binoculars for you to look through as well. \nAll ages and skill levels welcome. \nWhat: A “Big Sit!” Often called a tailgate party for birders\, a Big Sit! is a stationary birdwatching activity where birders see how many different kinds of birds they can spot from within a 50-foot circle.  Join our Great Texas Birding Classic team\, the Woodland Blind Warblers\, and count birds along with us! \nWho: You and your family! All ages and skill levels are welcome. \nWhere: We’ll be hosting our Big Sit at the park’s Woodland  Blind (northwest corner of the big river parking lot). \nWhen: The Big Sit will go from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Drop in for a few minutes\, or stay for a while! \nWhy: Because birdwatching is a great outdoor activity that everyone can enjoy! \nWhat to bring: Bring your own binoculars\, if you have them! We will also have binoculars available for you to use. \nCost and reservations: This program is free with park entrance – $7 per person for ages 13 and up\, kids 12 and under are free! No registration necessary to attend the program — just drop in! \n**Important! The park often sells out of Day Pass reservations on the weekends\, so please reserve your park Day Pass reservation online ahead of time to guarantee park entrance (even if you have an Annual Parks Pass). You can do this up to 30 days in advance with your credit card\, or for free with your Annual Texas State Park Pass. Go 3 miles and turn right on FM 3351. Go approximately 3.5 miles and turn right on Edge Falls Road. Continue for 2.4 miles and turn right on Acker Road. Go 2.2 miles to entrance. \nAllow approximately 20-30 minutes to drive from Park Headquarters to the Bauer Unit parking lot. \n

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to shoot a bow and arrow! \nJoin us for the safe and fun sport of archery! \nWho: This program is best for kids ages 10 and up\, and adults of any age\, due to the physical strength necessary to pull back the bowstring. \nBring: Drinking water\, dress for the weather\, wear close-toed shoes. \nMeet: at the Rust House (inside the park). \nCost:  Park programs are free with a Texas State Parks pass or park entrance fee – $7 per person ages 13 and up\, kids 12 and under are always free! \nSign up! We strongly recommend that you register in advance\, although drop-ins are permitted as time allows. If you drop-in\, you may have a longer wait. \nMandatory safety orientations are held at 1\, 1:30\, 2\, and 2:30\, so drop-in participants may wish to plan their arrival around these times. \nOnline registration opens on Sunday 2/13.  Check Guadalupe River State Park Events Page: https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/guadalupe-river/park_events \nAsk us! We want our programs to be a fun outdoor experience for all. DESCRIPTION:Sorry\, this program has been canceled due to poor weather and trail conditions. \nDid you know that some of the first mountain bikers in the country were the Buffalo Soldiers — all-black regiments in the US Army? \nJoin the Park Ranger as we find out more about mountain biking and some of its original pioneers — then we’ll go on an easy guided trail ride! \nWho: All ages are welcome. No dogs\, please\, except service animals. \nWhat: A short presentation about mountain biking and its history\, and a few mountain biking tips and tricks —  then an easy guided trail ride. \nDistance: We will ride an easy trail less than 2 miles in length. \nWhere to meet: Meet at the Prairie Trail parking lot (Equestrian area). \nWhat to bring: Bring your own bike! Helmets are highly recommended. Also wear close-toed shoes\, dress for the weather\, and bring drinking water. Bike at your own risk.
